A privately commissioned session led by Eriyo Watanabe, Master of Incense and founder of the Renshin School of Incense. Drawing upon more than two decades of dedicated practice, research, and international cultural work, this session offers fragrance leaders and visionaries access to a rare and living lineage of aromatic knowledge preserved beyond contemporary commercial perfumery. Rooted in Koh-do: Japanese Incense Ceremony, the session invites participants into a disciplined exploration of scent — where scent is not projected outward, but received inwardly, cultivating clarity, refinement, and Wellbeing.
This session is created for:
・Founders and owners of fragrance houses
・Chairpersons and executive leaders
・Creative directors and senior perfumers
・Research and product development teams
・Cultural institutions and private collectors
While deeply relevant to practitioners, the encounter is equally designed for those shaping long-term direction — individuals who influence not only products, but philosophy and cultural positioning.
The setting is intimate, allowing for concentration, thoughtful dialogue, and meaningful exchange.
Each session is individually composed and meticulously tailored to the commissioning client’s objectives and professional context. The following dimensions form the structural core of the experience.
・Koh-do: Japanese Incense Ceremony — Mon-koh: Listening to Incense
A first-hand experience of Koh-do: Japanese Incense Ceremony, with particular emphasis on Mon-koh — the practice of listening to incense in silence and stillness. This contemplative discipline forms the foundation of the session.
・Encounter with Rare and Authentic Incense Materials
An opportunity to encounter genuine incense materials rarely accessible in their original form, including resin incenses such as frankincense, myrrh, and amber, as well as highly prized aromatic woods such as kyara, agarwood, and sandalwood. Certain materials, now restricted from trade, are introduced in an educational context, offering fragrance professionals a point of reference beyond what is available through essential oils or commercial fragrance education.
・Historical and Cultural Perspectives on Incense
A slide-based lecture exploring the history of incense across Japan and Eurasia, including trade routes, cultural exchange, and the role of aromatic materials in ritual, medicine, and spirituality.
・Juku-koh™ — Original Fermented Incense
An introduction to Juku-koh™, the world’s first fermented incense developed by Eriyo Watanabe. The session explores its aroma, materials, and the process through which time and fermentation shape scent.
Each Private Incense Master Session is carefully shaped in alignment with the client’s objectives, background, and areas of interest. Rather than offering a fixed format, the content, emphasis, and pacing of the session are thoughtfully adjusted to align with the client’s professional focus — whether research-oriented, creative, strategic, or reflective in nature. This flexible approach allows the session to remain both precise and meaningful, ensuring that time is held with intention and that the experience resonates with what the client is seeking at that particular moment.
