Eriyo Watanabe established the Center for Arts and Wellness in Tokyo in 2003 and has taught Japanese Incense Ceremony in a contemporary style.
She holds a Master's Degree from Lesley University in expressive arts therapy. She facilitates the sense of creative release and relaxation using various modalities of expressive arts. With her love of Japanese Art Forms, not only Incense Ceremony but also Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy as well as Japanese Traditional Performing Arts such as Bunraku and Noh, she has offered unique workshops for many years. The exclusive & private Bunraku Backstage Tour at the National Theater in Tokyo with Bunshi Yoshida for a small group in English in Feb., May and Sep. every year has been a popular event in Tokyo.
Her background is international and multi-cultural. She grew up in Japan and lived in London, Paris, Hong Kong and Boston for ten years. She has traveled to over 45 different countries in order to explore music, dance and rituals throughout the world. Because of her travels and international experience, she actively interweaves the essence of various cultures into her programs.
In 2011, the Incense Research Institute (IRI) was established with support of Prof. Rhohei Kanzakiof Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo and Mr. Kunihiro Nishizawa of Nikkei BP. IRI has been organizing various seminars and workshops at RCAST.
The Japanese Culture Programs and Stress Management Programs are very unique and popular. Because of the tragedy of the earthquake in Japan on March 11 in 2011, there has been an increasing demand to offer Stress Management Programs.
